Notables
We would like to showcase people in and around Westmoreland whose talents make them special: writers, musicians, actors, scientists, experts in a certain field, etc. If you know of any people who should be on our list, please contact us.

The McCormick Brothers consists of William, Haskell, and Gerald McCormick, of
the legendary McCormick Brothers; and second generation member, Jason McCormick.
From www.ibma.org: "Best remembered for their
first release on Hickory Records in 1954, “Red Hen Boogie,” a Louvin Brothers
composition, the McCormick Brothers recorded around 30 sides for the label
during the 1950s. The McCormick Brothers did weekly live radio shows for about
a dozen years on WHIN in Gallatin, Tenn. and were extremely popular on a
regional level. The majority of their work was at dances from the 1950s-70s,
many of which they sponsored themselves in the area around where they lived 50
miles northeast of Nashville. During the mid and late 1950s, the McCormick
Brothers were frequently ranked in Billboard magazine’s annual disc jockey poll,
on the list of favorite small country and western groups. The act also won a
Cash Box magazine award. The McCormick Brothers had the first bluegrass
recording of “Bugle Call Rag” in 1955, with Benny Martin playing fiddle on the
track." Jason McCormick has lived in the Westmoreland area all his life.
