Ms. Willie Ruth Borders became the library's director in October, 1987. Through a group of people that later became known as the "Friends of the Library", money was raised to build Westmoreland's current library. The doors to this new library opened in July, 1991. The library has grown since those days, and today it is in the process of adding a children's room.
The library has five computers available to the public for Internet access. It also has free wireless Internet access.
