Everybody in Westmoreland knows Glen and sees him as he rides his bicycle through town delivering individual birthday cards to others. Glen has been doing this all of his life, and Glen is one of the reasons Westmoreland is a special place to live.
Glen works at H.A.T.S. in Hartsville, a United Way Agency. Glen loves football, especially the Vols and the Westmoreland Eagles. Besides delivering individual birthday greetings to the people of Westmoreland, Glen is also famous for calling everybody "M'Dear" and moving his neighbors' wayward newspapers from driveways and yards to more convenient locations on their front porches.

This poem was written as an invitation to a surprise birthday party for Glen's 40th birthday. The party was held on September 21, 2002. |
